our dengue episode
some of you guys know that roy, julian and i were supposed to go to hongkong last october 27-30. we were not able to because roy got dengue fever, which became dengue hemorrhagic fever. to make the long story short, he was sick from oct 21 and his confinement in the hospital lasted until yesterday, oct. 30. roy was transfused 18 bags of platelet concentrate and 2 bags of plasma.
to make matters worse, julian also got dengue fever. his fever started on oct 27, also got confined, and was thankfully released the same day roy is to be released, oct. 30.
i was a caregiver of my 2 home boys, my 2 patients in adjoining rooms at the makati medical center (room 629 and 628, respectively)! you can just imagine my worry…
a lot of people deserve our whole-hearted gratitude, and i shall duly name them in my next post. hindi namin makakalimutan ang inyong pagtulong, pagdamay, pag-aalala at pag-aruga sa panahong kami ay nangamba sa kaligtasan ng kalusugan ni roy at ni julian.
for now, i just want to share with you guys some of the pictures i took during our stay in the hospital:
while at the stairwell going down to the floating island restaurant (going down there to buy food and drinks was a nightly ritual).
floating island restaurant at late nights (i’m one of the few people there at night, in contrast to the hustle and bustle crowd during lunch time).
roy trying to sit for at least 10 minutes, day 5 of DHF illness. platelet count: 48,000
julian’s first day at the hospital. temperature: 39 degrees celcius.
